UberEats "Painting" "Bonsai" - Behind the Scenes

UberEats has launched its first ever brand campaign in Australia “Tonight, I’ll be eating” featuring local celebrities, which was a huge success. Taiwan and Japan were chosen as the first Asian areas to launch its global campaign and We, AOI Pro., were brought on board by Special Group to work on the Japan versions using local Japanese icons. Working closely with director Hisashi Eto, we created engaging portraits that captured the comedic moments of the famous talents interacting with each other.

Tennis superstar Kei Nishikori and comedian Cookie are paired together to kill time in a unique way while waiting for the laundry to finish. The pair were chosen based on the UberEats “Tonight, I’ll be eating” campaign format – a unique combination that the viewer would find unexpected and fun at the same time.

In the second version of the ad campaign, Tetsuko Kuroyanagi and Nana Komatsu appear in a sunroom, helping set up each other’s bonsai hairstyle.

“The structure and process of the whole project were quite challenging, but also fun at the same time. Without director Hisashi Eto being a true local Japanese having a global eye and mindset, we weren’t able to pull this off” says Producer Ai Yamamoto.

The two films have been released as part of the global campaign through TVC and social media.
